What Does Faith LOOK Like
I woke up yesterday to the Bible app speaking to me about how the generation that first left Egypt did not possess the promises of God “because they did not pursue it in faith.” In that half asleep state, I asked God what pursuing the promises of God in faith looks like for me. What follows is what I felt He was saying.
“It looks like taking note and inventorying everything I’ve promised you and everything I’ve told you about the future then thinking, speaking and making life choices as if you believe that what I say about them is true until you realize them.
It looks like daily taking steps in the direction that I’ve called you and choosing to believe my word and my report above all others.
It looks like framing your life around My ways and My word.
It looks like singing, preaching and prophesying while choosing to believe that My answers are already Yes and Amen.
It looks like always expecting my presence and always anticipating the breakthrough whenever the breakdown presents itself.
it looks like expecting all things to work together for the good because you love Me and are indeed called according to My purposes.
Walking in faith looks like childlike joy and curiosity and the willingness to be led by it.
It looks like simple trust in Me when I lead and speak to you. It looks like simply taking Me at my word and living like it’s true.
Pursuing My promises means getting up from where you are and walking in the direction I’ve called you in expectation of My goodness.
It looks like pursuing something you have never seen before based on taking Me at My word when I tell you it’s available to you.
It’s taking action based on what I’ve told you even when it involves standing up against your biggest foe or resistance. It looks like Gideon choosing to heed my call in spite of all his natural limitations. He pursued an army that was more than he could naturally handle alone, but he had Faith in My word and won.
It looks like Moses, seeing the burning bush and then responding by turning aside to look. It looks like Moses making the choice to come back to Egypt when I called him. It looks like the simplicity of throwing down his staff when Pharoah’s magicians questioned the validity of his calling.
It looks like simple obedience, actions and life choices informed by My word and what I call you to.
It looks like acknowledging My leading when the world, with its pressures and vices, try to allure you off the path I made for you.
It’s living in the tension between this world’s ways, with it’s driving demands and culture, and what I’ve called you to.
It’s choosing to follow My lead into the unseen and the unknown when the world tries to allure you away from the path with its neon signs, flashing lights and empty promises of instant gratification and a thousand reasonable arguments.
It’s choosing to trust that where I’m leading you is good when the ways of the world and the trials of life push to make you cynical.
It’s choosing to trust again when so many people and circumstances have let you down.
Faith looks like walking in the direction I lead you in even when you know the Red Sea is up ahead and the Egyptian army is behind you.
Faith is lifting the staff to strike the water when a million people are looking at you for a viable solution.
It’s the willingness to risk doing what I ask you to do in the face of pressure to act to the contrary.
It’s setting your face like flint when I call you forth even when everyone and everything around you is telling you to fold.
It’s pushing forward when I call you regardless of worldly wisdom and rational hive-mind reasoning.
Faith is breathing, expecting the next breath to be there.
Faith is life choices, informed by My voice, My word and My leadership in your life.
Faith is living your life like I’m always with you. It’s moving forward believing that I will never leave you or forsake you.
faith is living like you believe My word is truth.
Faith is the North Star I’ve made you to follow when every other light has dimmed.
Faith is living from the unseen. It’s living life, factoring in the fact that everything you see is made up of that which is not visible.
It’s awareness of the fact that your mouth is powerful and what you speak forms the world around you.
So speak what I speak to you. Speak truth. Speaking love and speak life.
